While waiting for surrendering terms to be settled, he became aware that he was encircled by 3000 additional Federal Troops. Due to the failure of his scouts to inform him of the location of the second Brigade, he now found himself faced with two different lines of battle. Forrest quickly ordered a charge on both fronts. Confused by the move the Federal troops took up defensive positions, allowing Forrest and his men to escape. |
