As a fundraiser the school creates a Christmas ornament featuring the art of Mort Künstler, which is donated by the artist for this use. The 1999 ornament features Mort Künstler's popular snow scene Wayside Farewell, showing a Confederate officer saying goodbye to his wife. The scene is set in Middletown, Virginia, in front of the Wayside Inn, a building that still exists today. Each ornament comes with a presentation box, red ribbon and certificate of authenticity.
